| Elementary
is for students in their second year and follows a format similar
to Beginners. The Elementary book has been found very useful by
some secondary schools for students who must do music in their first
year but have not previously had any musical experience.

| Preliminary
is for students studying the A.N.Z.C.A. theory syllabus but is also
very useful as a forerunner to Grade 1 A.M.E.B. & A.N.Z.C.A.
It presents all new information in an easy to understand format
and has a test paper following each new topic. ALL parts of the
syllabus are being revised constantly. AA |

| Student's
Note Book (for Students) |
|
|
| "THE
TEACHERS' FRIEND" A students music note book containing
39 weeks which is an invaluable aid for busy teachers. As well as
a page for each week of the teaching year, there are pages on: "How
to Play the Perfect Scale", "How to Practice", "Advice
to Parents", charts for the current grade's scales, and the
names of exam, eisteddfod, recital and memorised pieces. Teachers
can keep track of each student's work without having a phenomenal
memory! The Teaching Pack, Flashcards and "The Six Cs"
all complement this very useful publication. A |

|
| The
Amazing Scale Book has proved a winner! I believe in learning by logic,
not rote or guesswork. The first part of the book is for younger
students and introduces them to the Major and Minor Houses. Once
a child understands the pattern, he or she can work out any scale
with the greatest of ease. All scales - major, harmonic minor, melodic
minor, contrary motion and arpeggios are presented in a pictorial
form - on the keyboard, with fingering. A |
| The
Six Cs |

|
| This
innovative 44 page book for use by the Teacher helps students to
develop note and sight reading skills. Children need to understand
that reading music by intervals is far quicker than reading note
names - provided the starting note is known. When this is put into
practice, sight reading is greatly facilitated. Reading by note
names is akin to spelling a word before saying it. This does not
mean that students should not learn their notes! It can be used
as soon as the student starts reading notes on the staff and should
be completed by the end of the third of fourth year. Teachers
at the Horsham Music Academy have used The Six Cs for many years
and it is frequently the most popular part of the lesson, especially
when a perfect score wins a sticker.

| There
are three sets of sheets. One has a scale chart for each grade -
printed on white paper ready to photocopy for each student. The
chart shows all technical work to be learned. The
second set is also on white paper, ready to photocopy, and has
all the scales, broken chords and triads set out for each grade.
The scales are written with fingering and accidentals.
The
third set consists of coloured scale card sheets (a different
colour for each grade) containing scales in random order which
can be used for weekly testing. There are 12 different cards for
each grade from Preliminary to Grade 2, and 8 different cards
for Grades 3 to 7. It is a good idea to laminate them and one
sheet is done as an example.

| Composers'
Time Chart |

page at actual size |
|
| This
is a chart of composers, inventions and our changing world - from
1600 until the present. Each student has a cardboard chart (84cms.
long x 29cms. deep, which folds up to one A4 page size.) Ideally,
it can be glued inside the back cover of Grade 1 Theory Can Be Fun as it is well suited to this age group. However, it makes an excellent
study course for older students as the topics can be covered in
greater depth. Home schoolers have found it a very useful aid.
It
is progressively filled in over a 36 week period. Each week an
invention or important happening is presented and drawn on the
chart. A composer and his or her music of that era is also introduced,
with suggested listening included. There are also references to
famous artists and their paintings and instruments invented or
developed during those 400 years.
Maps are included for students to colour the appropriate countries.
Each of the four main musical eras - Baroque, Classical, Romantic
and Contemporary takes a term to complete.
